Founded in 1993 and now part of the Jain family, Cascade Specialities located in Oregon, USA, is a grower and manufacturer of extra low bacteria dehydrated onion naturally grown in the fertile soils of Oregon USA and supplied worldwide. Cascade have total control of production from seed to harvest with visibility back to the very field in which the onions were grown. The long sunny days and cool nights, ideal soil conditions and an abundance of water from the Columbia River make the location of Cascade ideal. A strong focus on the use of optimum harvesting and production techniques, cutting edge climate controlled storage as well as working hand in hand with local growers sets Cascade apart from the competition.
Founded in 2002 White Oak Frozen Foods was purchased by Cascade Specialties in 2012 and thus also became a part of the Jain family. White Oak produce a wide range of “ready to eat” reduced moisture vegetables with the use of a Heat and Steam Treatment Micro Control System that has obtained third party validation and certification. White Oak also produces IQF peppers, chillies, onion and tomatoes as well as having fire roasting and custom blend capabilities.
Ready to eat and reduced moisture vegetable products have a number of advantages to IQF including lower freight costs due to the reduction of water/moisture contained in the products, more intense flavours and consistent quality as well as the addition of a heat kill step that eliminates Salmonella and Listeria.
As quite a young player in the global starch market General Starch Limited (GSL) begun production in 1992 but has grown up very quickly to become one of the leading and most trusted modified starch manufacturers in Thailand producing up to 1000 tonnes of starch per day from fresh, Non GMO cassava root covering industrial, food as well as pharmaceutical markets. Caramel colour is the world’s most widely used food colorant. It is used largely to impart colour in numerous foods and beverages including colas, soy sauce, seasonings, breads, pet foods, cereals, etc. It is also used in some cosmetic and non-food applications.
Sethness Products Company has a long history, producing caramel colour since 1880 and now Brian Sethness represents the fifth generation of the Sethness family.
In 2004 Sethness Products Company (SPC) joined with another family owned company long steeped in history, Roquette. Together they created Sethness-Roquette (S-R), a joint venture that saw them build their first European caramel colour plant in Merville France and become the worldwide leaders in the production of caramel colours, burnt sugars, caramelised sugar syrups and aromatic caramels.
